New Business Strategy

At a meeting on September 21, 2022, the Municipal Council adopted a new business strategy for Vordingborg Municipality, which will form the framework for the municipality and the business community’s joint work on business development until 2030. The task of developing a new business strategy has been placed in the Task Committee for Business, which was formed in connection with the municipal elections in November 2021. The committee included representatives from the local business community and members of the Municipal Council. In addition, Business Vordingborg was also represented.

“I am very pleased that, in cooperation with Vordingborg Business Association, we have created a joint business strategy for Vordingborg Municipality. Together, we have now set an ambitious direction for our work towards 2030, and I am sure that it can give us the decisiveness that we may have lacked in the past,” says Mikael Smed, Mayor of Vordingborg Municipality.

A central element of the Business Master Plan 2030 is the green transition and the growth engine that it can be for Vordingborg Municipality. The ambition is for Vordingborg Municipality to be Eastern Denmark’s powerhouse for green energy.

“We in Vordingborg Municipality face great opportunities in relation to the green transition. Our geographical location with several motorway exits and the investments we have made in both Vordingborg and Klintholm Harbour make us an attractive location for companies involved in the green transition. These are opportunities that we must actively seize, and the Business Master Plan helps to set a high level of ambition and set the direction for our work,” says Mikael Smed.

Municipality and Business Community Collaborate

Vordingborg Business Association stands together with the municipality behind the new business strategy, which stands on the shoulders of the concept paper that the Business Association presented in the autumn of 2021.

“We look forward to continuing the close and constructive cooperation that has been involved in preparing the joint Business Master Plan 2030. It is a very strong strategy and we look forward to continuing the work to realise the common desire that Vordingborg Municipality should be the most business-friendly municipality in the Region of Zealand,” says Jacob Møller, Chairman of Vordingborg Business Association and Director of Insatech.

The Business Master Plan sets clear goals for future growth and development in Vordingborg Municipality.

“Business Master Plan 2030 sets a clear course that ensures growth in the business community with 1,000 new jobs, up to 1,500 new business-active residents, more large export companies and significantly more young people who receive an education in Vordingborg Municipality. It is all driven by the ambition that Vordingborg Municipality should use the green transition as a growth engine, and that is enormously positive,” says Jacob Møller.

With the adoption of the Business Master Plan 2030, it is now time for both the municipality and the business association to put on their work clothes. The Business Master Plan contains a clear division of tasks between the municipality and the business community, so both parties have a mutual responsibility to ensure that the ambitious goals are met.
