Ørslev Industrial Park
A Dynamic Area with Space and Potential for Collaboration
North of Vordingborg, you’ll find the Ørslev Industrial Area. It is centrally located in the municipality and close to key infrastructure, such as Vordingborg Port, Barmosen, and the E47 motorway. This makes Ørslev Industrial Area essential for companies working with logistics or requiring large amounts of green energy.
Potential renewable energy sources from Barmosen and Snertingegård can be transported directly to Ørslev. Potential new tenants include data centers, new industries, charging and hydrogen stations for heavy transport, and Power-to-X facilities.
Ørslev Industrial Area has several vacant building plots where you can become part of a cluster of larger companies, providing opportunities for inter-company collaboration. Among others, IBKA, Cabelcon, and Viking Malt are all located in the business park in Ørslev, and several of the companies prioritize sustainability and a green profile.
“We prioritize sustainability at Viking Malt because it’s important for the environment. But also because our customers demand it. If we’re not part of the green wave, we won’t have a business in a few years. It’s absolutely necessary,” says Karen Mette Krieger Lassen, CEO at Viking Malt in Ørslev.

One of Vordingborg Municipality's largest export companies is located in Ørslev. Viking Malt is part of a Finnish group that has malthouses in Denmark, Sweden, Latvia, and Poland, and one of these is located in Vordingborg Municipality. In fact, the malthouse is the fifth largest in Europe, and the malthouse sells to companies including Carlsberg and Heineken.
"It requires skilled employees who are committed and carry out the work every single day. We have a production that runs 24/7, 365 days a year. Our facilities must constantly run and be maintained. Our raw material, which is the most important part, must be in order. The quality must be in order," says Karen Mette Krieger, who is the director at Viking Malt in Ørslev.
The company uses water, electricity, and heat in production while placing sustainability high on the agenda. The company receives barley by truck and simultaneously transports 120,000 tons of malt for sale each year.
And there is good demand for the products that the malthouse sells. In recent years, the malthouse has expanded its silo capacity, and after incorporation into the Finnish organization, the workforce in Ørslev has grown. Additionally, Viking Malt in Ørslev cultivates sustainability throughout the entire malt production. This applies to the entire chain, from water recycling to taking care of their employees.
This means that the company has great potential for collaborations with possible actors in the local area. In fact, the company does such important work for the business community and municipality that it was nominated for the Vordingborg Business Association's Business Award in 2022.
